In 2008/2009, the Profession's press office produced 40 press releases. These publicised events and activities ranging from fellowship
ceremonies and conferences to research carried out by the Profession and its partners. As a result of this media activity, 102 articles were
generated in trade, national and international media. The press office also responded to 85 queries or requests for comment from the media.
In 2008, NHK Television of Japan filmed materials from the library archive for a programme about the beginnings of the insurance industry.
The programme featured the work of James Dodson, who in 1755 first defined how actuarial life assurance business could be operated.
In early 2009, a film crew from More4 News visited Staple Inn to talk about the Profession's move to preserve its archive at a
time when other business archives may be at risk of dispersal.
The press office worked with external bodies including universities, schools, professional organisations, journalists and companies to produce press
releases and liaise with media outlets.
